Bluff Heights offers a variety of housing types, including small and large apartment buildings, duplexes, and detached homes, many built before the 1960s. The neighborhood features mostly one- and two-bedroom residences, providing diverse accommodation options. Its relatively flat terrain makes bicycling a convenient mode of transportation, supported by several nearby bus routes to help with getting around. Residents have easy access to specialty and general grocery stores, as well as numerous cafés and restaurants, especially along Broadway. Several parks are located close by, offering peaceful green spaces, and the area is known for its tranquil streets and occasional nighttime spots like bars.

Bluff Heights is a "jack-of-all-trades" when it comes to the feel of this part of Long Beach. Finding things to do is easy in this area. Despite the fact that there is a poor selection of entertainment venues, there are many people around most of the time, and it is very easy to find bars because they are well-spread throughout the neighborhood. Bluff Heights is very quiet overall, as there are generally low levels of noise from traffic. It is easy to get to green spaces since there are approximately 10 of them close by for residents to check out.
